Ryan Henderson, Interim Principal

Dear Lakewood Elementary Families,

It’s my privilege to join the team at Lakewood Elementary and serve as your principal this year. I am in the middle of my first week and am already so grateful for the chance to work alongside this great group of students and staff. I have enjoyed a very warm welcome from the staff and from your children, who are greeting me daily with smiles, winks, high fives and hugs. Since I am joining you mid-year, I think it’s only fair that I introduce myself. My name is Ryan Henderson. I have been in education for the past ten years, working as a teacher, instructional coach, and for the past three years as assistant to the principal. I enjoy being a school leader because I believe my work sets the stage for teachers to be able to teach and students to be able to learn. This year our staff will be learning together about how to best meet the learning needs of your students.

My wife Sarah and I live nearby in Marysville in a farm house with a big red barn. Our “farm animals” are a Jack Russell named Zoe and a Poodle mix named Fergie. Sarah is an amazing second grade teacher in Lake Stevens. We enjoy spending time with our large families and our friends, hosting events at our house, spending time with our gaggle of nieces and nephews and garage sale-ing in the summer.

You will hear more from me throughout the year but I just wanted to take a moment to say hello. I look forward to working with you this year to meet the unique needs of your child. Please introduce yourself to me when you see me around campus. I am the bald guy who’s usually in a sweater vest, so I shouldn’t be too hard to spot.
