Volunteer Program

Volunteers are very important part of Lakewood Elementary School. Volunteers help in many different roles, as school and classroom helpers, as field trip chaperones, library helpers, etc. We encourage every parent or member of the community to become involved in some way with our school!

How To Be A Volunteer At Lakewood Elementary
If you would like to help and become involved in the excitement and rewards of early childhood learning, please contact the school office.

Our Mission
Our Mission at Lakewood Elementary School is to educate the individual child for life-long learning and to develop responsible citizenship, with combined efforts of students, staff, parents and community. All children will be given the opportunity to reach their full potential in a cooperative, creative, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

National Volunteer Week
April 15-21, 2007

Volunteers will connect to their communities during National Volunteer Week this April. During the week, thousands of committed citizens will participate in service projects while countless recognition events will be held to honor volunteers for their valuable contributions to our society.

Connect with your community by volunteering your time or recognize an outstanding volunteer by using other recognition ideas from the idea generator.

National Volunteer Week began in 1974, when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing the Week as an annual celebration of volunteerism. Every President since then has supported the Week by signing a Presidential Proclamation. Additionally, governors, mayors and other elected officials make public statements and sign proclamations in support of the Week.
