Volunteers
are very important part of Lakewood Elementary School. Volunteers
help in many different roles, as school and classroom helpers,
as field trip chaperones, library helpers, etc. We encourage
every parent or member of the community to become involved in
some way with our school!

National
Volunteer Week
April
15-21, 2007
Volunteers will connect
to their communities during National Volunteer Week this April.
During the week, thousands of committed citizens will participate
in service projects while countless recognition events will be
held to honor volunteers for their valuable contributions to our
society.
Connect
with your community by volunteering your time or recognize an
outstanding volunteer by using other recognition ideas from the
idea generator.
National
Volunteer Week began in 1974, when President Richard Nixon signed
an executive order establishing the Week as an annual celebration
of volunteerism. Every President since then has supported the
Week by signing a Presidential Proclamation. Additionally, governors,
mayors and other elected officials make public statements and
sign proclamations in support of the Week.
