Reading Practice Makes Perfect
Keep your
students' reading skills strong by encouraging them to read and by taking frequent trips to the public library. There are lots of fun activities going on over the summer especially for teens.
Visit http://www.sno-isle.org to see some of the entertaining events taking place! If you are not sure what books to have your student read, click on the Recommended Books link above. Included on this web page is the list of books for our Reading Rocks contest that will begin in the fall. Students need to read at least two titles from the list to participate in the contest.
Book
Awards
Reading Rocks is a contest where students are asked to read at least two of eight nominated titles and then take a one-question quiz for the books before the middle of March. The winning book for last year was Angel Experiment: Maximum Ride #1by James Patterson. Many exciting titles are on the new list of nominees for this year!
If you are interested in having your student read the nominated titles for this year's contest, please have them stop by the library to pick up the list. If you have any questions, please contact Nadine Roys in the LMS Library.
Click
on the Recommended Books link above to find out the LMS nominated
titles for 2009-2010.

Donate books to the LMS Library by using the Classroom Wish List Program. Go to http://www.classroomwishlist.org/ and click on "find a specific wishlist"; click on Washington state; next to "enter the school name," type in Lakewood Middle School (and leave the other lines with just the asterisks); click search and a list of teachers (including myself) from our school will appear. Click on the name of a teacher to view a list of items you can purchase to donate.
