In addition to a strong basic educational core curriculum that correlates well with the State's Essential Academic Learning Requirements, Lakewood schools offer a variety of unique educational programs that provide for the specific needs of ALL students. The District strives to ensure that the best educational environment is provided for each student to reach his/her potential academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. Some of these programs are:
- Developmental Preschool
- Vocational Education
- Alternative Education
- Tutorial Programs
- Special Education
- Enrichment and Challenge Programs
- Advanced Placement Courses (College Level)
- Running Start
Co-Curricular activities are also a valued tradition in the district. A wide variety of activities are offered to students in grades 7-12. At the high school level, as a member of the North Cascade Conference, activities include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track, volleyball, and wrestling. In addition to athletics, high school students are able to participate in such diverse activities as drama, band, choir, Chess Club, Honor Society, Hi-Q, FFA and Business Leaders of America.
The District is proud of its continued efforts to improve and expand our computer labs. All grade levels include computer learning as an integral part of the curriculum. We are also proud of our dedicated parent groups. The PTA, PTSA, Lakewood Education Foundation, and Booster Club all participate actively in fund raising, making it possible to acquire additional learning tools and resources for all grade levels.
