Our PurposeThe Lakewood Education Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization working with the Lakewood Public Schools to ensure the leadership and resources essential for educational advancement and for preparation of Lakewood students for success now and in the future. The foundation raises funds that will be used for programs, activities, materials, and scholarships. Current legislative appropriations and local tax revenues are often not adequate to provide the quality of education the school district seeks to offer. OpportunitiesAll programs authorized by the school district are eligible for funding. Some examples are:
Our Mission"The Lakewood Education Foundation (LEF) operates to improve and enhance the quality of education for Lakewood students." GrantingThe Lakewood Education Foundation Board, in communication with the School Board, faculty, administration, parents, students, and others, has established priorities and patterns of granting of contributed funds. In addition, donors are able to make specific requests concerning the use of their donation. The foundation provides a tax deductible method for making qualified contributions to support the Lakewood Education Foundation and affiliated groups. AchievementsAs part of LEF efforts, more than $75,000 has been given for classroom enhancement grants, scholarships, and educational projects. We are also now an affiliate of WA Dollars for Scholars. This allows scholarship recipients to potentially receive matching funds for their scholarships at select colleges and universities. InvolvementHere is your opportunity to invest in your community and its educational programs. Special efforts will be made to address the Lakewood High School alumni, their parents, parents of current Lakewood students, staff, others currently living in the school district and community members. Your contribution is greatly appreciated, as is your support in our fund raising activities. Please feel free to join us on our board or on a limited committee or special project basis. LEF meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Lakewood School District Conference Room. For more information, contact Tamara Ross at (425) 345-1749 or at tross@teague.com.
