English Crossing Visitor Policy

ECE policy requires that all visitors, without exception, must check in with the Front Office staff before proceeding into any classrooms. This policy is enforced for the safety of the students. Visitors sign in and obtain a badge at the front counter. Parents bringing items for their child (lunch, band instruments, homework, etc.) will be asked to leave the items with the front office personnel so that instructional time remains uninterrupted.

Those wishing to visit a classroom should make arrangements with the classroom teacher a day in advance. This policy is adhered to in order to prevent disruption of the instructional program. Unless prior arrangements have been made, unannounced parent/teacher conferences are not possible during the instructional day. English Crossing encourages open and ongoing communication with parents. Please call the school at 360-652-4515 if you need information or would like to arrange a conference.

Absence Policy

Regular school attendance is important to your child's progress. If your child is going to be absent, please call the office at 360-652-4515. Returning from Absence: Your student will need a note that states the nature of the illness, the date, and parent's / guardian's signature. This note needs to be turned into the office so an admit slip can be issued. BECCA BILL: The BECCA Bill (ESSB 5439) is a state mandate implemented in 1996 which requires school districts to file truancy petitions in juvenile court on students who have five unexcused absences in a month, or ten absences in a year. Phone calls will be made on a daily basis regarding student attendance.
Tardies: A student is tardy if he/she arrives anytime after 8:50 a.m. Leaving Early: If you need to have your child leave early, please send a note indicating what time you will be picking up your child and check in at the office. Your child will be called from class and released to you from the office. Do not go to the classroom to pick up your child.

School Hours

The regular school day is 8:50 to 2:50. Early dismissal school days are 8:50 to 11:50.
