Lakewood School District administers a Prevention/Interventions Drug Omnibus Grant reaching the Northwest Region of Washington State.  This grant combines federal and state resources and supports:

Prevention/Intervention efforts in 29 school districts in the Region.
Efforts of 50 Intervention Specialists.
Training & networking opportunities.
Services for 2200 students.
Prevention strategies in 75 schools.
Participation in state-wide, nationally recognized, service evaluation.
Participation in Collaborative Assessment of Risk & Protective factors.
Participation in State, regional, and community efforts to increase resources and effectiveness.
Fiscal oversight and monitoring.

NSDUH SURVEY SHOWS INFLUENCE OF STUDENT ALCOHOL AND DRUG USE AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) http://store.health.org/catalog/results.aspx?h=publications&topic=131  reported in 2002 that teenagers who received grades of D or below were more likely than those with higher grades to have used cigarettes, alcohol, or illicit drugs
