Mission...
Lakewood High School is dedicated to educating students to become respectful, responsible, and literate citizens with the skills to contribute to a global community.

Who We Are
Lakewood is a four-year high school of approximately 780 students that has been fully accredited since 1982. The campus sits on approximately forty-five acres of rural land that includes a main building with an auditorium, library, cafeteria, music rooms, computer lab, classrooms, and office complex. Adjacent buildings house the science, art, special education, and vocational departments. A greenhouse and four portable classrooms complete the building site. Physical fitness facilities include a gymnasium, weight room, baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, track, cross country course, football field, and stadium.

These facilities support a full range of activities. Students can select college preparatory courses including Advanced Placement, college-in-the-high school, vocational/technical courses offered on site or through the Sno-Isle Skills Center, the Running Start program with local community colleges, or our alternative education program. Our Job Skills program provides student training by producing products for the community and operating the student store.

Student Programs
Co-curricular programs for students at Lakewood High School are an essential part of the total school program. Over fifty percent of the student body participates in one or more co-curricular activities. Sports include football, volleyball, cross country, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, track, softball, boys and girls golf, baseball, and tennis. Other activities include: Leadership, band, choir, cheerleading, chess, drama, Hi-Q, Honor Society, International club, and Yearbook.

Academically, our students consistently excel. They are well prepared for entrance into any post-secondary training institution. Students consistently score at or above the national average.

We have an extremely talented and professional staff. They are dedicated to providing the best educational program. Twenty of the forty-one certified staff have masters degrees.

Community Support
Our school has been fortunate to have the support of our community in many programs. The Smokey Point Area Chamber of Commerce actively supports our school's efforts. The Lakewood Education Foundation supports classroom efforts and provides scholarships for seniors. Local business leaders on our Vocational General Advisory Council actively support our vocational program. The community often uses the school facilities. Activities include sports programs, community meetings, community education classes, and youth programs such as Boy Scouts.

This year the Lakewood High School Diversity Team has been working hard to foster a sense of harmony in our school. Our goal is to promote a diverse, peaceful, and violence-free community.

How Can You Help?
Lakewood High School is a collaborative school with shared decision making as a central theme. Our Learning Improvement Team is comprised of students, parents, business/community members, and staff. This team is responsible for overseeing the continuous school improvement process and ensuring that decisions made are supportive of our mission statement, learning principles, and state goals.

We would welcome your participation on the Learning Improvement Team, or any other level of involvement including attending meetings, assisting in the office or classrooms, working in the concession stand, serving on a committee, chaperoning activities, or being a member of our Booster Club.
