Lakewood High School is dedicated to educating students to become respectful, responsible, and literate citizens with the skills to contribute to a global community.

 

 

Signups are now open for the PSAT test.  The test will be at Lakewood on October 18 th at 8:00am.  This test is great practice for Juniors and could qualify you for Merit scholarship consideration.  Sophomores are also welcome to take this test as extra practice for next year.  Please pay Mrs. Gogert the $16.00 fee and see Mrs. Sather to register.

FCCLA announcement:    All for doing community service at the Lights of Christmas say “aye”, the motion carries.  Time to serve snacks.  Yes boys and girls, YOU could wield this kind of power and prestige as an officer of the Family, Community, and Career Leaders of America.  We are looking for officer candidates NOW.  It's not too late to pay your dues of $15 to Mrs. Gogert during lunch and be eligible to run for office and to VOTE at our next meeting on OCT 7.  President and vice president will get their fees paid to attend the regional meeting at Shoreline on Oct 14.  See Mrs. Steiner for more information or ask a member.

Seniors! Does college study overseas sound like something for you? Many schools, like New York University , have significant foreign study options. Look into it when you are searching for the right college for you.

Are you interested in foreign land, languages, food, history and customs? If so, then maybe the International Club is for you. Gather at Room 303, that's Mr. Buchanan, tomorrow during tutorial.

In Cross Country action on Saturday, the Cougar harriers ran in the Mt. Baker Invitational.  Feeling a bit tired from their recent excellent training, the varsity boys team placed 4 th (but still managed to beat 3 rd ranked Squalicum)  and the girls team placed 3 rd (missing a victory over the #1 1A ranked girls of Kings by only 8 points ).  The JV girls were 2nd  and the JV boys were 3rd!  This week the team has a meet at River Meadows against Granite Falls and South Whidbey on Thrusday….AND ON SATURDAY THEY HOST THE 25 TH ANNUAL HOLE IN THE WALL INVITATIONAL!!!!!!!!   More than 40 schools are expected with more than 1300 runners!  DJ Dr. “Woogie” Wohlgemuth will be playing the tunes, more than 60 volunteers will be helping out and your Cougars will be racing to beat the best in the state.  Come on out and support the team.  Racing begins at 10am sharp!!

Attention all Cross Country runners, today is a training trip to the Centennial Trail.  Be on the bus at 2:30pm sharp!!!!
