Here
at the Lakewood High School Greenhouse we grow agreat variety of beautiful
plants. We grow most of our plants from cuttings and
seeds. We take special care in each plant to insure that you, the customer,
gets the best quality right from the start.
The
agriculture program at LHS is for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders who
take interest in how plants are grown and sold through our nursery business,
Plants-N-More.
What
we do!!
Greenhouse
managers are trained to manage our crops. They make sure the plants get
to you pest and disease free. Floral shop managers are in charge of managing
our flower shop and making sure the flower arrangements stay fresh and
beautiful. The store is open most every day to students, staff, and the
public. Sales are specifically held during most holiday periods. The
Greenhouse donates vegetable starts and planter boxes with
a mix of arrangement of plants and colors to several community organizations
and senior centers in the Smokey Point area. Another group of students
provide crops for our local food bank, which are picked up by a master
gardener member and delivered to several outlets.
The Horticulture
Greenhouse/Floriculture club (FFA) is the leadership component for the
agriculture class. The officers, leaders, and active members participate
in a variety of activities such as: leadership camp, field trips to contests,
fairs, supply shopping, and the end of the year road journey.
