About Our School |
CARE Team CARE team is a resource for teachers and parents to use when a student has needs which require extra planning and support. Parents are the most important resource this team has. We invite parents to attend the meetings, and if that is not possible, to contribute their ideas and knowledge of their child to the team. Otherwise, the team consists of the principal, the learning lab teacher, the counselor and a teacher from each grade level. The team meets on Thursday morning from 8:00 until 8:40 AM. Prior to each meeting the teachers, parents, and counselor gather information about the student. The philosophy of the team is to recognize the individuality of every student and to build on student strengths. The team identifies concerns and problem solves around those concerns. Positive Behavior Support Team meets regularly to plan the discipline policy at Lakewood Elementary School. The entire staff works to create clear expectations for students. These expectations are visible throughout the school in common areas, such as the lunchroom, playground, hallways and bathrooms. Expectations are taught regularly. We recognize students regularly for following these expectations. The students work to follow these expectations and to make Lakewood Elementary School a safe and caring place to be. The Positive Behavior Support Team also meets to problem solve when an individual student struggles to meet school expectations. The philosophy of the team is to work from student strengths, to recognize individual needs and to develop plans which will encourage students to meet school expectations.
