Parent/Teacher/Student Association

PTSA MISSION STATEMENT:

1)To support and speak on behalf of youth in our schools, the community, before government bodies, and other organizations that make decisions effecting youth.

2)To assist parents in developing the skills needed to raise and protect youth to become future leaders in our community.

3)To encourage parents to become involved in our public schools.

Our PTSA is an active and involved group. They have been a valuable resource to our students and staff. They have been instrumental in organizing and sponsoring open gym nights, teacher appreciation activities, volunteering in the classroom and on field trips, school dances, and raised funds needed for a reader board.

Become a board member or a chair on a committee and get to know our middle school kids and what they are doing. This is a great opportunity to get to know the staff and other parents that are involved in our children's everyday events. If you thought it was important to play an active role in supporting your child through their elementary years, it's crucial to show continuing support now while they are developing and branching nito unique individuals. Please call the Lakewood Middle School office for additional information about becoming a part of this dynamic group.

Over the past few years, the LMS PTSA has raised money to support our school in a variety of ways including the following:

• LMS Reader Board
• Teacher reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses
• LMS band banner
• Laptop for teacher use
• LCD projector for teacher use
• Books for the LMS Library
• Popcorn popper for the ASB
• Traverse rock wall in the gym
