Science Summary

In Science this year we will be using our newly adopted Foss series. This year students will be exploring Water, Magnetism & Electricity, and Life Structures.

To supplement our Science curriculum, students will use Newspapers in Education (sponsored by the Seattle Times) to learn more about forests.

Most of our 'forest' activities will be conducted in class including research and classroom discussion. Students will be asked to create a 3D rainforest bird or animal. Please click on the Home Project link below for more information regarding this project.

(Check back in January for current due dates and information on our forest project.)

What Students Want to Know About Forests (O5/06)

Four Types of Forests

Forest Home Project

We will be making a class ABC book about the rainforest. Each child will be responsible for creating one page of this book. One more rainforest activity will be where students conduct research on a particular rainforest animal and then use facts from this research as well as their own imagination to create a fictionalized story about this creature.

We will also be using National Geographic for Kids to learn more about science around the world.
