Nine-patch

Native
American Art
Students explored symmetry in math and then using blocks they designed a pattern that showed rotational symmetry.
Students were asked to observe the drawings of Native American artists and then recreate at least some part of the painting or drawing, replicating as many of the details as possible. | |

Energy
Posters
Students designed pumpkins with warm colors and

Students worked in small groups to create an

The
First Thanksgiving

Students chose a person they would like to
learn more about, drew a charcoal sketch and wrote a biography of that
person.
Students were asked to work in
small groups to solve a problem. Their problem was to imagine they were an
historian writing about the first Thanksgiving.

I
Wish Poetry
Students studied a sunflower to view
its details. Then they cut out pieces of the flower and pasted the pieces
together inside a paper vase.
Students wrote and illustrated free verse
poetry about things they might wish for, what they remembered about an
important event in their lives, or what they saw when they imagined
something.
| Portraits |
Students designed a self- portrait using non-traditional colors
and they also wrote a poem telling a little about themselves.
Students studied a flower to view its details.
Then they colored with watercolor pencils and painted over their flower
with water.
