The following land acknowledgment, presented by Scott Peacock (who is not descended from indigenous people), seeks to center the beauty, vitality and power of the Lushootseed language in shaping the land—land that was taken from indigenous people and from which they were forcibly removed. It recognizes the essential role that our local tribes and indigenous ways of being play in our collective well-being, our future, as humans.

Acknowledgment of the Land

We honor and acknowledge that we gather on the land of the Stillaguamish people, the Snohomish people, and the Tulalip Tribes.  On the land where these people have lived since the beginning of time. They are still here today.  They live, they work, they raise their children, they care for their community, they practice their traditions and speak the Lushootseed language. Just as their ancestors did.

May each of our children find their place and contribute to their communities and families.
