    National School Counseling Week

    Students in Karin Robinson’s class at Cougar Creek Elementary were learning about resiliency this week with school counselor Bailey Richardson. Each lesson starts with a “mindful music meditation.” Then, using a book called, “Weathering the Storm,” students had a chance to hold their Slumberkins stuffies and think about how the characters reacted to a challenging situation.     Aging schools create challenges for students, staff

    Schools celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

    Students performed songs of peace, kindness and freedom during Martin Luther King Jr. assemblies this month. At Lakewood Middle School, students were asked to create a playlist for their school by answering the question: What should our halls and classrooms sound like? On the playlist card they wrote their dreams for the school. Hallways were also decorated with student artwork about MLK and about his messages of peace and equality.
