Our District

Lakewood School District

Lakewood School District is located in the state of Washington, about fifteen miles north of Everett. The District encompasses 23 square miles of rural/suburban countryside nestled between the Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound, and is surrounded by farmland and seven lakes. Our District is comprised of five school sites and several support facilities.

The total enrollment for the District is approximately 2,500 students. We currently employ approximately 150 certificated staff and about 150 classified staff. With a population of about 16,700, Lakewood retains the closeness of a small country community, yet has ready access to the larger metropolitan areas of Seattle and Everett.

In addition to a strong basic educational core curriculum that correlates well with the Common Core State Standards, Lakewood schools offer a variety of unique educational programs that provide for the specific needs of ALL students. The District strives to ensure that the best educational environment is provided for each student to reach his/her potential academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. Some of these are:

  • Early Childhood Education programs
  • Career and Technical Education
  • Online Credit Retrieval Summer School
  • Special Education
  • Enrichment and Challenge Programs
  • Advanced Placement Courses (College Level) & College in the High School Courses
  • Running Start & Sno-Isle Skills Center

Co-curricular activities are also a valued tradition in the district. A wide variety of activities are offered to students in grades 7-12. At the high school level, as a member of the Northwest Conference, athletic programs include baseball, basketball, cross country, cheer, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track, volleyball, and wrestling. In addition to athletics, high school students are able to participate in such diverse activities as drama, band, choir, Chess Club, Honor Society, Hi-Q, FFA and Business Leaders of America.

The District is proud of its continued efforts to improve and expand access to technology. All grade levels include computer learning as an integral part of the curriculum. We are also proud of our dedicated parent groups.
