IS SCHOOL A GO? HOW WILL I KNOW?

When winter weather hits, our top priority is the safety of students and staff. District administrators begin evaluating conditions in and around our area beginning as early as 3:30 a.m. on days we experience severe weather. The decision to delay or close schools is usually made by 5:30 a.m.

LWSD uses these tools to communicate schedule changes to families:

  • To receive immediate updates, we recommend signing up for FlashAlert. You can subscribe to receive automated e-mail or text messages.
  • Transportation Information Line: Pre-recorded information on weather-related delays or closures: 360-654-2024.
  • Email to families.
  • LWSD mobile app.
  • Text messages to families who have a designated cell phone number on file.
  • The District website and Facebook page.

Limited Transportation Routes for Buses

When snow or ice is on the road, school buses will use Limited Transportation Routes. Learn more on our Inclement Weather page. Elementary students who are dropped off at an alternate stop must have an adult meet them at the bus stop.

When buses are on Limited Transportation Routes, no out-of-district transportation will be provided.
