Kristin Cortés has been named the new principal of Lakewood Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year.
Cortés is currently School Improvement and Multilingual Learning Coordinator at Northwest Educational Service District. She was previously principal of Frank Wagner Elementary School in Monroe and assistant principal at Woodmoor Elementary in Northshore School District. She taught dual language classes for elementary grades at Northshore School District and third grade at El Centro School District in California.
Cortés received a master’s degree in educational leadership from University of Washington - Bothell in 2015 and a master’s degree with a focus on literacy instruction from Walden University in Minnesota in 2005.
Scott Peacock, superintendent of Lakewood School District, said, “Ms. Cortés comes to Lakewood Elementary with a heart for serving staff, students and family. She also brings a wealth of experience collaborating with staff and families in the development of support systems and structures at the elementary level. We are excited to learn from and grow with her.”
