Students learn about Salish culture during Lushootseed storytime
During assemblies this week, students at all three elementary schools had a chance to hear stories in both English and the Lushootseed language.
Lois Landgrebe and John Waters from the Tulalip Tribe’s Lushootseed Language Department played a drum song that is traditionally played during the tribe’s salmon ceremony. Students also heard the story of Mink and Tetyka, who went swimming to feed on salmon, but got into some trouble along the way. More songs, stories and resources are available on tulaliplushootseed.com.
